24 Hour Front Yard Wish

I had some old wicker chairs in my front yard and they were quickly becoming a forever gift to the dumpster.  I mentioned to Anthony, a friend of mine, on a Sunday while we were driving that I liked the look of the old metal chairs from the 50's but thought the Adirondack chairs would probably be more comfortable and cheaper if I went with the plastic ones.  My problem was picking the color.  What to do, what to do?  Well, the very next night as I was walking the dogs, what would happen to be on the curb?  Two forest green Adirondack chairs!  The karma gods decided on a color for me!  I jumped in my truck and headed back to the scene as soon as the last dog was inside.  One chair has a slightly broken back, but Hallie says it looks good!

Update:  This last weekend as I was checking Craigslist for an umbrella and umbrella stand, I ran across an ad for two free green Adirondack chairs and stools.   I emailed the person and less than 30 minutes later, I drove about a mile and picked them up.  She actually lived along one of my running routes!  They were dirty, but after a little scrubbing they are as good as new.  One chair has a broken back and the footstools both need painted.  The two chairs with broken backs are going in the backyard and I'm off to Ace to buy a can of spray paint.  I saw spray paint that is made especially for plastic.  We'll see how that turns out!

One of my weekend projects...

I had a very productive weekend.  I have no idea how it happened, but it did and the garbage men are going to hate our culdesac tomorrow!  I had so much stuff...tree branches, old cushions, broken table, random chunks of wood, Leon Duane's old ramp, and bags and bags of weeds...that I topped my quota and had to share my trash with the neighbors.  I'm good like that.  :-)

I've been wanting a patio set and gave up on finding a "set" in my price range of under $40.  I found these items at random Goodwills.  After 3 cans of spray paint and some new cushions...wha-la...my new patio set!   I even spray painted the dog!  He-he...just kidding.  No dogs were harmed or painted in the revamping of this patio set.  Bella is sniffing out the goods in the before picture and Decker is posing in the the glory of the after picture.  I'm on the search for a big green umbrella and umbrella stand to finish it off.  Craigslist beware!!

The Karma Gods

Many of you know that I have an uncanny ability to wish things into my life.  My fellow Mesa Verdians witnessed time and time again, times when I would mention that I really needed (or wanted) something and wha-la, the karma gods as I coined them would bring me my wish whether it be a 20" computer monitor, a bookcase or a cool wooden teak screen from World Market.  They would always deliver it to one of the dumpsters and I would be incredibly delighted when walking the dogs, I would stumble upon my gift.

It has been years since I lived at Mesa Verde, however, luckily my gift has continued.  Many times it happens the night before trash day while walking the dogs and with the invention of Craigslist and the "free stuff" category, I have a whole new way of finding my delights from the karma gods!  With my current job, I drive all over town and have found many gifts  for myself and others on the curb.  Being a home owner with a limited budget, the karma gods have slowly been helping me with projects around the house.  I'm also slowly building a photo album of my 'Curbside Delights' to share.  Many of my friends and all of my family live far, far away and this is my way of sharing what has been happening around my little homestead.  Enjoy!
